Work History
Ben is our freshwater expert. He is a down to earth, boots in the mud rural professional. Passionate about futureproofing New Zealand agriculture and the importance of telling the stories farmers are currently doing on farm to reduce their impact on the environment.
After graduating at Canterbury University, he spent time working within irrigation in Canterbury, learning of the vital role water management played in agriculture, he pursued further study before working as a Freshwater Advisor for Regional Council.
Ben brings together his knowledge of science, environmental law and policy to break down policy guff into practical workable solutions on farm. Specialising in freshwater farm plans, farm environment plans and mitigation strategies.
Recently graduating from the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme he continues his leadership journey as a strong rural advocate. When he is not in the office or out mapping you will find him managing his family sheep and beef farm in Ohakune.
